Alcohol Awareness
Davis discusses the negative
effects alcohol has had on his life and how The Real World has
affected him and changed his behavior. Alcoholism runs in Davis'
family and "blacking out" is an issue he has had to
learn a lot about. Alcohol abuse was an issue confronted on The
Real World - Denver with his roommates, and is a common concern
for college students. He talks of personal experiences dealing
with regrets and the poor decisions that correlate with alcohol
abuse as well as the simple measures that can be taken to avoid
such situations.
Glbt Issues
Davis speaks about the experience of coming out as a gay man from
a conservative Southern Baptist community. He addresses the fears
of being rejected by his Christian peers and family members due
to the homophobia within the Church. He also talks about the joys
of coming out and being accepted by true friends and coming full
circle in the experience of being gay in America.
College: A Great Time for Self-Discovery
Coming from a sheltered Christian upbringing with very strict
household rules, college was a big eye opener for Davis. He speaks
about the mistakes and lessons learned during his four years of
college, specifially relating to alcohol abuse, sex, and drugs.
After a summary of personal experiences both humorous and unfortunate,
Davis addresses all that one can learn through the college experience
and this great time for self-discovery.
